Swan FC defeated St. Cuthbert’s Mission 4-1 yesterday when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/Guyana National Women’s Football Association (GNWFA) Super-16 Women’s Festival commenced at the St. Cuthbert
Aviana Adrian and Aliyah Baston recorded doubles in the come-from-behind win for the visitors. Adrian found the back of the net in the 47th and 81st minute while Baston netted in the 84th and 89th minute. On target in the loss was Zanita Abraham in the 12th minute.
The event will conclude January 2nd at the GFF National Training Centre. The tournament is scheduled to resume on Tuesday.
Winner of the tournament will now receive $500,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will pocket $300,000. The third and fourth place prizes are $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
The other competing teams are GT Panthers, Mahdia, Guyana Police Force (GPF), Orealla, Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Upper Mazaruni, Fruta Conquerors, Moruca, Santos, New Amsterdam (NA) United, Foxy Ladies, Lethem, Bartica and Wakapow.
