Develop a strategic approach for a clean capital city by 2025

Dear Editor,

Warmest Season’s Greetings to you and all at SN. Kindly allow me to express my sincere commendations to the team responsible for the cleanup in Georgetown, especially, Walter Narine who certainly seems to be among the leaders. Well done! I encourage them to keep up the good work. I hope that they have arrangements in place for a quick cleanup after the late-night shopping on Christmas and Old Year’s Eves.

I also encourage Government to take a strategic approach to the city cleanups; after all, the cities and townships are where governments do business; effectively, their boardroom. Whether run by a council or not, the condition of the place of government business reflects on the performance, caring and reputation of the government.

Strategy involves starting with a vision to do things differently over the long term. We ought to have a vision statement fitting for an O&G economy, like, “Cleanest City in the Caribbean by 2025”, and shoot for that. Private Sector, everyone, please get on board! Thanks.

Sincerely,

Keith Evelyn
