Days after she was allegedly struck down by a minibus in Suriname, a 75-year-old Guyanese woman has succumbed to her injuries.
Dead is Chaldrica Ramkissoon.
Stabroek News understands that the accident occurred last Friday morning. Ramkissoon, who suffered severe head injuries was admitted as a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she succumbed on Monday.
Ramkissoon never regained consciousness.
A relative, who wished not to be named told Stabroek News that Ramkissoon was crossing the road when she was hit by the minibus on Maagdenstraat in the centre of Paramaribo, Suriname.
At the time of the accident, Ramkissoon was visiting the city to conduct business at a bank, the relative said.
A police investigation is ongoing into the accident.
