Man held with ganja during Stabroek Market raid

One person was arrested by police on Friday during a raid at the Stabroek Market which led to the discovery of 478 grammes of marijuana.

In a statement, the police force said that ranks from the Police Special Branch, Impact Patrol and Criminal Investigation Department, Brickdam conducted searches on several individuals and stalls.

During the exercise, a quantity of ziplock plastic bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis sativa were found abandoned in two black plastic bags, which when weighed, amounted to 478 grammes.

A 20-year-old was arrested subsequent to being found with 23 tiny ziplock plastic bags containing cannabis. The cannabis was weighed and amounted to 31 grammes. The man is expected to be charged soon.
