Seven Westbury males charged with throwing missiles at cops during protest 

Seven Westbury, Essequibo Coast residents have been charged with throwing missiles at police ranks during the last week’s demonstrations at Dartmouth.

They appeared virtually via Zoom before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on Monday and they pleaded not guilty. 

The accused are Mark Grant, 26, Ravindra Singh, 18, and Bentley George, 49, who are jointly charged with throwing missiles on a corporal; and Eton George, 23, Quince Abrams, 31 years, Eon Fordyce, 25, and a juvenile, 17, who are also jointly charged with three counts of throwing missiles committed on three other constables.

The offences were reportedly committed on January 21, 2022, at Westbury.

Grant and Bentley George were placed on $10,000 bail each, while the others were each granted $5,000 bail with the condition that they remain in the confines of their home between 18:00 hours and 06:00 hrs. The proceedings were adjourned until Monday, January 31, 2022, for commencement of trial.
