US-based Guyanese celebrity stylist Ceshanna Andrea Anthony whose work has been featured on American television shows “Love & Hip-Hop” and the “Wendy Williams Show” is preparing to conduct a two-day ‘Everything Lace Master Class’. There will be limited seats so Ceshanna advises persons to register soon.

Participants will learn about lace wigs (bleaching, tinting and plucking), preparation (measurements and attachments), construction (lace placement and shaping), installation (customization and styling), and brand strategy (marketing and branding tools). Those who complete the class will receive lace certification.

Ceshanna shared that initially she had planned to have the class just one day for a duration of five hours but owing to an increasing number of registrants, classes are now slated for April 2 and 3 to ensure all COVID-19 protocols are followed. Registration stops at 60 persons.

Ceshanna was born in Linden, where she spent her early years and attended One Mile Primary and New Silvercity Secondary School. She told The Scene that she and her mom were later “forced” to relocate to New Amsterdam, Berbice where she completed her secondary education at the Berbice Education Institute.

Sadly, Ceshanna lost her mom when she was 13. There are no words for how her mother’s passing has impacted her life, the stylist shared. She has named her studio ‘Sandra’s Luxury Studio’ in honour of her mother. Following her mother’s death, with the help of Miss Lanamay Fraser, she was able to complete her secondary education as well as enter the Cyril Potter College of Education where she qualified as a trained teacher.

However, even while she was a teacher, Ceshanna’s passion for styling hair was fuelled through her late aunt’s salon. She subsequently expanded her knowledge in hair and received a certificate before migrating to the US.

“ [After moving to the US, I] became a board certified medical assistant. You know what everyone says, ‘Yuh come farren, try and get into nursing’, so I did [that] but even while gaining my certification, I worked in a hair shop. My love for hair is truly in my DNA [and] I’m pretty sure if we go back in time, my ancestors were hair stylists,” enthused Ceshanna.

This is the first class the stylist will be conducting in Guyana. Having worked with a number of celebrities and after acquiring many skills and techniques, Ceshanna is ready to share her knowledge with aspiring Guyanese hair stylists.

“The main reason or purpose [for] this class is to empower not only women, as the class is not limited to one gender but rather anyone interested in learning a new skill or enhancing their skill as a hairstylist. It allows for entrepreneurship; we live in a world today where being your own boss gives you power. I must say I’m super elated at the responses I’ve been receiving thus far. I can feel the love from my people and I promise to return the same,” Ceshanna said, adding that she not only looks forward to teaching but having a “good old time” with her people.

She said there are some surprises but only those who attend will be privy to them. For those who may be hesitant, Ceshanna encourages them to take up the opportunity and promises that it will be a “wonderful and edifying experience in a clean and safe environment”.

During her time here, Ceshanna will also organise a charitable event where she will provide self-care packages.

The master class comes at the cost of $60,000 and a deposit of $10,000 is required. To register, contact Ceshanna on Facebook Messenger at facebook.com/andrea.anthony.581. Once a deposit is made, prospective participants will be added to a private WhatsApp group where they will be further informed.
