Putin’s devotees

Dear Editor,

I refer to my contributory comments on Putin’s invasion of Ukraine captioned `Putin’s blitzkrieg is more akin to terrorism’  (SN Sat 5th March).

First two personal notes: (i) I don’t mind attracting some derisive giggles when I admit to only very recently discovering how to access the comments of bloggers and (ii) I’m not likely to respond to the bloggers’ views on my own commentaries after this.

I understand that some fallen former angel became a very wounded messenger to distract mankind from the straight and narrow. Whether known as devil, Satan or demon he has attracted millions seemingly. And if sin is his business the world has afforded the devil massive sympathisers. These thoughts occurred to me after I was guided to some bloggers’ responses to my Saturday correspondence mentioned above.

Seemingly like Satan, the autocratic monster Putin has his own supporters among a few professional bloggers who imply that once-peaceful anti-Russia Ukrainians should accept or accommodate Putin’s murderous dictatorial demands; that they should have expected Putin’s invasion.

Other anti-Fenty dudes even questioned my use of the term “blitzkrieg”. As if I did not know or check the word. Whew! Some even feel that African students had the racism coming.

At my age and stage I easily accept reasonable constructive criticism within the context of the unquestionable freedom of expression. But it’s obvious that some daily blogger-dudes make it a duty to respond just for the exercise and sake of so doing. Still, bless then.

Yours faithfully,

Allan Arthur Fenty
