Chanderpaul’s ton leads Everest to 164-run win over MMZ USA

A blistering century from Tagenarine Chanderpaul spurred Everest Cricket Club to a 164-run win over MMZ USA yesterday at the Everest ground, Camp Road.

The hosts won the toss and batted posting 258 for seven in their 30 overs before routing MMZ USA for 94 in 26.2 overs.

Chandrapaul hammered two sixes and 10 fours in 101 from 72 balls before retiring. Chanderpaul added 76 with former West Indies youth all-rounder, Matthew Nandu, for the fifth wicket. Nandu made 40 from 31 balls before he was stumped by Renaldo Renee off of off-spinner, Jonathan Rampersaud.

Chanderpaul also added 52 for the fourth wicket with Assad Fudadin who made 28 from 15 balls and 43 for the second wicket with Akshaya Persaud who struck a ball-a-run 16. Clinton Pestano chipped in with 21 while Gudakesh Motie ended on 13 not out. Samuel Raghubir bagged 3-41 while Rampersaud ended with 2-35.

Keemo Paul wrecked MMZ USA’s chase with 3-21 as the visitors slipped to 26-4 by the fifth over. Motie ended with 3-25 and Chanderpaul 1-3.

Ushardeva Balgobin top scored for MMZ USA with 23 while Extras tallied 22. Chris Harry made 16 while Matthew Lutchena was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 13.

On Friday, MMZ USA lost to West Demerara by 51 runs.

West Demerara posted 116 for seven from 20 overs while MMZ USA were dismissed for 65 in 17.3 overs.

West Demerara’s Richie Looknauth top scored with 35 from 36 balls while Sheldon Alexander made 24. Jermaine Maxwell took 2-4 and Malcolm Hubbard 2-16.

MMZ USA’s Hubbard top scored with 32 from 39 balls while Balgobin made 12. Looknauth picked up 4-5, Kishan Tracey, 3-21 and Alexander took 2-6.
