Everest/ACS secures 50-run win in NYNCL

Former national youth all-rounder, Richie Looknauth smacked his maiden ton in the New York National Cricket League 30-overs-a-side tournament but could not see Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) over the line as they lost to Everest/ACS by 50 runs.

MMZ won the toss and inserted Everest/ACS who posted 288 for five from their allotted overs. MMZ managed 238 for eight in reply.

Former national youth left-arm seamer, Andre Stoll, rocked MMZ’s top order early on by removing his countrymen, Ronaldo Renee for a four-ball duck and Randall Wilson (12) to end with 3-42 while getting support from Chatram Balgobin who bagged 2-13.

Looknauth clubbed six sixes and nine fours on his way to a blistering 67-ball 101. Looknauth was supported by Kelvin Shewprashad with 29 from 14 balls as well as Mark Fredericks (23 not out) and Keith Edie (23). Extras added 25 towards their total which was still not enough.

Earlier, former West Indies under-19 opener, Raymond Perez, was belligerent, hitting 15 boundaries inclusive of four sixes as he romped to 91 from 67 balls before leading a catch to Renee behind the stumps off of Looknauth.

Perez added 96 for the first wicket with Freddy Pestano who made 38 from 27 balls and 69 for the third wicket with Andre Davis (31).

Balgobin returned to make a quick-fire 53 from 23 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes before falling to Shewprashad.

Marinaro Dixon also got among the runs with 40 not out from 26 balls, highlighted by four sixes and two fours.
