Port Mourant, Rose Hall Canje to clash in BCB/Tenelec U15 final

Rose Hall Canje Arborsmart defeated Tucber Park by 282 runs while Port Mourant secured a seven-wicket win over Cotton Tree to book their places in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board/Tenelec Under-15 tournament.

At Rose Hall Canje, the hosts, batting first, posted 345 for one from their 50-over allotment while Tucber Park were contained to 63 for nine in 19.3 overs.

It was a third century from up-and-coming Adrian Hetmyer, son of former national youth player, Seon Hetmyer and nephew of West Indies’ Shimron Hetmyer which  allowed Rose Hall Canje to post the mammoth total.

Hetmyer smashed four sixes and seven boundaries during his unbeaten 134. He  faced 140 balls and added an unbroken partnership of 207 runs with Jaden Edwards who made 74 not out from 88 balls with nine boundaries.

Rose Hall Canje’s captain, Romario Ramdeholl had forged a 138-run opening partnership with Hetmyer before being run out for 69 from 81 balls. Tucber Park gifted 68 extras including 52 wides and nine no balls.

In reply, Ramdeholl returned to pick up three wickets for six runs and was supported by Enrique Mickle with 3-12 and Nocholas Hall (2-9). Rose Hall Canje were also sloppy with the extras, giving away 36 with only Thiery Henry (17) managing double figures.

Over at Port Mourant, Cotton Tree were routed for 87 with Shoaib Gaffoor top scoring with 33. Navin Boodwah picked up 3-30 while Rovin Boodwah and Yoganand Mohan bagged two wickets each for 13 and 14 runs respectively.

In reply, Port Mourant raced to 90 for three in 16.3 overs with Vishal Williams and Shamar Daniels hitting unbeaten cameos of 39 and 13 respectively. D. Alfred picked up 2-14.

BCB President, Hilbert Foster met with the Cotton Tree team after the match and urged them to work harder to achieve more success. He also congratulated them on reaching the semi-finals at their first attempt and pledged his support in terms of assistance.

Foster also told the members of the Port Mourant side that they are the future of their club and pleaded with them to remain focussed and disciplined.
