Windsor Forest pensioner succumbs after accident

Windsor Forest pensioner, 66-year-old Fiuz Hussaine was fatally struck by a vehicle on the public road yesterday.

Police in a statement said that around 5.30 am, motorcar #PMM 3502 was proceeding west on the southern side of the Windsor Forest Public Road, West Coast Demerara. The driver told investigators that he saw the pedestrian walking on the southern parapet of the road heading west while speaking on his cellphone.

The driver alleged that the pedestrian made a sudden turn right onto the main road into the path of the car, the front of which hit him.

As a result of the collision, the pedestrian fell on the road where he suffered injuries to his left foot and head.

The police said that he was picked up in an unconscious state by the driver and taken to the  West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was examined by a doctor on duty who referred him to the Georgetown Public Hospital. There,  he was further examined by a doctor on duty and admitted as a patient suffering from head injuries. He later succumbed.
