Starting today, the Lusignan Golf Club has planned a series of activities leading up to the Easter Weekend including events for adults as well as kids.

Today, however, all eyes will be on the annual Trophy Stall-sponsored Classic tournament where a lot of attractive prizes are at stake.

This year’s tournament will be a medal play, 18-hole event with prizes for the top five overall, best net, best net on the front nine and back nine, nearest to the flag and longest drive.

Registration is at noon and tee off at 12.30 hours.

Trophy Stall owner, Ramesh Sunich, said he was happy to be associated with the club and spoke highly of the values imbedded within society such as unity and camaraderie throughout family and community circles and especially in his business.

Sunich, who recently opened doors to his Liberty, New York branch to accompany their main local establishment at the corner of South Road and Bourda Street, said that he was happy to know he could do two tournaments a year.

Club Secretary, Chet Bowling, conveyed the club’s gratitude to Trophy Stall for its continued support.

“Indeed, he is the classic supporter of the LGC. He understands his corporate social responsibility and he mentioned family getting involved which again is what the golf club is about and we are definitely extending an invitation hoping that he will bring the family and have a nice event,” said Bowling.

“Trophy Stall is definitely an example of how a sponsor should be,” he added.

Bowling predicted that the tournament would be a very good one and said that it is one that the golfers look forward to playing.

The tournament will also tee off the points race for free entry to the year’s two-day Guyana Open.

According to the organisers, points will be awarded for each remaining sponsored tournament leading into the Open with the leader securing an all-expense paid entry for the tentatively set October event.

Following the Trophy Stall Classic this weekend, the LGC will continue the theme of family and community by hosting a free kids’ fun afternoon with prizes, ice cream and snacks starting at 2pm on Easter Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club.

The kids’ fun day will usher in a full weekend of activities on the grounds of the club.

All kids are invited to participate free of charge in the inaugural event on April 16th. Details will be forthcoming.

On April 17th, the LGC will open its gates to the public with an adult evening event sponsored by Heineken, followed by Easter Monday’s kite-flying and barbecue. Both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday’s activities will be paid events.
