The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) which will allow members of the force to attend a number of training programmes at the facility.

Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’, Calvin Brutus and GITC’s Administrator, Dexter Cornette signed the MOA at the GITC Woolford Avenue and Albert Street, Georgetown office.

In a press release, the GPF said the agreement forms part of the force’s five-year strategic plan which focuses heavily on training and development of members at all levels.

Among the training opportunities that will be available are Certifying Officers training and Heavy Duty Equipment Operator.

The release added that another MOA is expected to be finalized soon with the Texila American University. Hundreds of ranks are expected to benefit, it said.

Prior to Monday’s signing of the agreement, the police said Brutus met with the executive members of the Texila American University at their Providence, East Bank Demerara campus to formalize arrangements for academic and other training courses relative to policing.
