President hands out vehicles to over 20 Rupununi communities

President Irfaan Ali presented more than two dozen vehicles to over 20 communities in the Rupununi during his visit over the weekend to Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).

A release from the Office of the President said that among the vehicles distributed for community development were tractors with trailers, canters, buses and ATVs. A pickup and a backhoe were also handed over.

The release said that the communities of Karaudanawa, Aishalton, Awaruwaunau, Sawariwau, Kwaimatta, Yakarinta, Toka, Woweta, Massara, Crash Water, and Kumu received buses.

Shea, Kattur, Semonie and Koksheabi received ATVs and Parishara, Hiawa and Quarrie received tractors.

Katoka and Nappi were presented with canters, while St Ignatius received a backhoe and Massara a pickup, the release said.

On Saturday afternoon, after a community outreach at Yupukari, the President also handed over a repaired village minibus and tractor with a trailer to Fly Hill and a tractor with a trailer each to Quatata and Kaicumbay.
