Landlord charged with knocking out tenant’s teeth

A row with a tenant landed a landlord in court on Friday, when he was faced with a wounding charge. 

Ghansham Ramrattan appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in a Georgetown court, where he denied that on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Lot 15W Riverview, Ruim-veldt, he maliciously wounded Abdool Rasheed, causing him actual bodily harm.

Ramrattan was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 and was ordered to return to court on June 3, 2022.

According to the police, on the day in question, Rasheed went home and started to use a series of expletives towards Ramrattan.

Rasheed later picked up a big brick and began to rush towards his landlord. The landlord is alleged to have then pushed the gate, causing Rasheed to fall and the brick hitting him on his mouth and breaking two of his teeth.  A scuffled then ensue between the two men and a report was later made to the police, resulting in the current charge.
