Norton must bring fresh ideas

Dear Editor,

Aubrey Norton is the elected leader of his party, and now Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. In a previous article, I was very critical of Mr. Norton. Norton prided himself as being a clone of Burnham, one who could smother everyone around him with his so called brilliance. Now, they say first impression is all that it takes in the assessment of a leader, and a stark negative example was shown when Miss Volda Lawrence was invited to speak to the press. No sooner had she began her remarks than Mr. Norton stepped in. It was Norton all the way right down to the very end; his views was all that mattered.

Secondly, when one assumes the position of an opposition leader and begin to whine and complain, it tells everyone that you are bereft of ideas. When you can only champion the age old tactics of race and class, it says nothing new is brought to the table. In that regard, Norton must bring fresh ideas, new proposals or newer courses of action. It means a course of action that would benefit everyone in society. So, Mr. Norton, Guyana is looking forward to team leadership and collective effort in bringing together a country with national unity.

Sincerely,

Neil Adams
