Continuing their support for the Richard Faikall Police College, located at Suddie, in Region Two, Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation on Wednesday donated new computer systems and desk and chair units to the college.

During a simple handing over ceremony, Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj handed over 30 brand new computer systems, 35 student desk and chair combinations and a smartboard. This was done to provide a comfortable learning environment for recruits of the Guyana Police Force.

According to Jay Sobhraj, he was moved to make the donation after Sergeant Gladwin Hanover, who currently oversees the Richard Faikall Police College, made the request.

Sobhraj said the aim is to foster collaborative online learning in synchronous and asynchronous sessions. He noted that the Sobhraj Foundation has been supporting the Zara Computer College in the Guyana Police Force for years as he observed that human development is important and the college will assist trainees to keep up with technology.

Meanwhile, Hanover expressed gratitude to the Sobhraj Foundation for heeding his call. Hanover said that he intends to collaborate with schools and ministries to ensure that the college is utilised to serve the community and the Guyana Police Force.

He said that he will ensure that the equipment is cared for and persons from around communities and police within the division benefit.
