Police from the Anna Regina Station District, Essequibo Coast on Saturday night engaged in a ‘White Light Campaign’ where a number of vehicles were stopped and examined for coloured lights resulting in eleven vehicles being detained.

The campaign was led by 19293 Sergeant Mahadeo, Constable 24921 Marcus, and Constable 25270 Brumell in the vicinity of the Anna Regina Police Station.

By the conclusion of the exercise, the fitness for all of the detained vehicles was revoked by Licensing and Certifying Officer for Region 2, 19293 Sergeant Mahadeo. All the vehicles will be examined again at 10 am today.

Police Commander for Region Two, Superintendent Shiv-Persaud Bacchus noted that this is the third White Light Campaign since his appointment to the district in the latter part of March this year.

He added that once the vehicles that were in breach of the campaign are found to be in good order today, their fitness would be reissued. Persons to be charged will be determined by today’s re-examination.

Bacchus said also that the campaign is ongoing and can be conducted on any given night.
