Defending champion Bent Street will face-off with Sparta Boss while Back Circle will oppose Gold is Money in two titanic semi-final encounters Saturday in the Magnum Independence Cup.

Last Saturday at the National Park tarmac, Thomas Lands,  Sparta Boss continued its rich vein of form in the event, mauling Future Stars 9-0. Jermaine Junior was the architect of the assault with a five-goal haul netting in the eighth, 22nd, 26th, 29th, and 30th minute respectively. Adding goals in the 12th, 24th, 25th and 27th minutes respectively were Job Caesar, Sheldon Shepherd, Ryan Hackett, and Kelsey Benjamin.

In another fixture, two-time winners, Bent Street, squeaked past Melanie 5-4 after overcoming a 1-3 deficit. Jermaine Scott led the comeback with a double in the 17th and 26th minute while Pernell Schultz netted in the 29th and 30th minute. Daniel Wilson added a conversion in the ninth-minute.

For the losers, Teshawn Gordon bagged a brace in the fifth and 22nd minute whilst Dwight Peters and Teon Stewart netted in the 16th and 27th minute respectively.

Meanwhile, Gold is Money battled past Showstoppers in a 16-goal thriller 9-7. A Jamal Pedro helmet-trick was pivotal in achieving the win.

He scored in the first, 29th, 36th, and 37th minute while Deon Alfred registered a hat-trick in the fourth, sixth and 30th minute.

The combination of Darren Benjamin and Randolph Wagner influenced the outcome with goals in the 21st and 35th minute respectively.

For the West Demerara outfit, Stephon Jupiter tallied an impressive hat-trick in the 10th, 13th, and 22nd minute while Delon Lanferman bagged a double in the 19th and 30th minute and Olvis Mitchel and Dexroy Adams scored in the 26th and 39th minute.

Back Circle edged North East La Penitence 4-3 as Jermaine Beckles fashioned a hat-trick in the eighth, 29th, and 39th minute respectively while the underrated Dillon Kelly found the back of the net in the 28th minute.

For North East La Penitence, Jaleel Hamilton crafted a double in the eighth and 24th minute while Benjamin Opara made his presence felt in the 14th minute.

The four losing quarter finalists will feature in the Magnum Plate Championship with the resulting victor walking away with $40,000. Melanie will lock horns with Future Stars at 19:00hrs while North East La Penitence takes aim at Showstoppers from 19:30hrs.

The first prize is $700,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will receive $400,000 and the corresponding accolade. The third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
