The Guyana Cricket Board has named Shemaine Campbelle as the women’s captain for the national side ahead of the Regional T20 Blaze and 50-over tournaments.

Both tournaments will be hosted in Guyana from June 5 to June 26.

Campbelle will be supported by her West Indies Women teammate, Shabika Gajnabi, and include West Indies Women player, Cherry Ann Fraser, along with Sheneta Grimmond and Mandy Mangru.

Also included are Katana Mentore, Sherica Campbelle, Plaffianna Millington, Tremayne Smartt, Erva Giddings, Lashuna Tossaint, Kumarie Persaud, Ashmini Munisar, and Kaysia Schultz, all of whom excelled in the recently concluded senior female inter-county T20 and 50-over tournaments.

The selectors have also named Heema Singh, Dian Prahalad, Latisha Jordan and Naffeza Sabar on the stand-by list.

The team will be coached by Level 3 coach, Julian Moore, and managed by Kavita Yadram. The squad will be encamped at the LBI cricket facility from May 30 to June 3 in preparation for the upcoming tournaments.

These regional tournaments mark a return after COVID-19 forced their abandonment in 2020 and 2021. Barbados are the reigning champions in both competitions.
