B/dos beat J/ca by 11 runs via DLS in Women’s Super50

Barbados got their revenge over Jamaica after beating the girls in yellow by 11 runs via the Duckworth Lewis and Stern Method in their rain-affected Super50 match up at the National Stadium, Providence yesterday.
Barbados, batting first were dismissed for an unexpected 121 in 31.4 overs while Jamaica were 106 for nine after 25.3 overs, still 11 runs behind the par score when rain washed out the rest of play.
Chinelle Henry struck three balls into the match as Kycia Knight was bowled for a duck but her twin sister, Kyshona and captain, Hayley Matthews, kept Barbados on par with a 57-run partnership for the second wicket.
Kyshona Knight struck six boundaries and toiled to 50 from 75 balls before she was dismissed by Vanessa Watts. Matthews, on the other hand, was the only other batter to reach double figures with 16 from 20 balls, including three boundaries.
Extras propped up the defending champions’ tally with 25. Stafanie Taylor was the pick of the bowlers with 3-13 from 5.4 overs while Jody-Ann Brown (2-20), Watts (2-24) and Henry (2-25) supported.
Matthews returned to save her side by striking twice in the 23rd over to push Barbados ahead, removing Neisha Ann Waisom and Charline Howell to end with 3-16.
Aaliyah Williams also pegged Jamaica’s scoring back with 3-16 from seven overs. Rashada Williams top scored with 29 from 41 balls, her innings featuring five boundaries while Henry was left unbeaten on 28 from 37 balls.
