FIFA and Concacaf completed a two-day mission on local shores, as part of the consultative process to revise the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) statutes in an effort to align the entity’s governance code with that of the global body and regional confederation.

This was revealed by an official release from the federation. According to the correspondence, FIFA Member Association Manager Sofia Malizia and One Concacaf Manager Howard McIntosh met with the GFF Executive Committee, members of the GFF General Council, the GFF attorney, and a newly-formed Statutes Revision Committee. The release did not disclose the composition of the Statutes Revision Committee.

“The visit followed a letter from FIFA in May, which informed the GFF that it was obliged to update its statutes this year, alongside all of FIFA’s 211 member associations, to meet the mandatory requirements of the higher governing bodies”, the correspondence stated.

GFF President Wayne Forde said, “We were delighted to welcome the delegation from FIFA and Concacaf this week to work towards aligning our statutes with FIFA and Concacaf in the interests of good governance and accountability.”  He further added, “We look forward to continuing this work through to fruition this year,”

“FIFA and Concacaf will continue to support the GFF through the revision process by working closely with the Statutes Review Committee and the GFF General Council in the coming weeks”, the release stated.
