YBG’s NSBF bounces off Saturday

Tournament organisers of Saturday’s  National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF),  Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG),  Tuesday conducted a technical meeting with the participating schools at the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue.

According to a release from YBG, the competing teams received their respective fixtures as well tournament rules and regulations, safety protocols and general tournament information from coordinator and YBG Co-Director Chris Bowman. The release also stated that each school submitted their team lists and player data information for verification.

The 15th edition of the tournament, which has become a staple in the basketball community, will commence Saturday with four matches in the boys U18 division at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue. All matches will be held at the venue.

“The official opening ceremony is set for Saturday, July 2nd at 2:00 pm, during which the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports is expected to declare the tournament open.

“This year’s tournament will see 48 teams competing in three divisions for national titles of boys under 14-16, Girls 14-16, and boys under 18 over the course of the 10 most exciting days on the school and youth calendar,” the release stated.
