Guard, 61, dies while on duty at hotel

A 61-year-old security guard died yesterday morning while on duty at a city hotel.

He has been identified as Mark Yaw.

Police yesterday confirmed the incident which occurred at around 10.30 am at a Cummings and Robb streets, Georgetown hotel.

According to a police report, investigations revealed that the hotel manager saw Yaw sitting on a chair in the hotel’s office. He was breathing heavily.

The police said the hotel manager asked Yaw whether he was okay. He then attempted to stand and fell to the ground.

The ambulance service was summoned and upon their arrival Yaw was unresponsive. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was pronounced dead.

There were no visible mark of violence on Yaw’s body.
