E’quibo businessman donates $1M in hampers to Kabakaburi

Businessman Hemant Kumar Takram on Saturday donated 160 gift hampers to residents of the Kabakaburi Amerindian community in Upper Pomeroon River, in Region Two. 

Kumar is the owner of three variety stores at Cotton Field, Anna Regina and Charity. 

The businessman, who will be celebrating his birthday today, decided to make the donation to the community as part of his celebrations.

Takram said that he is delighted to give back the community, which has been supportive to his business throughout the years. He said nothing feels greater than to give back to society. He extended gratitude to all staff members of his store and others who assisted in making the activity a success.

Receiving the donation was Deputy Toshao Matthias Smith, who thanked the businessman for choosing his community. He welcome the initiative and said that many villagers usually shop at Takram’s mini mart. 

Residents were very happy having received the hampers. The hampers consisted of a wide range of household items, including detergents and cleaning items. In addition to thanks, birthday songs and wishes were also extended to Takram by the villagers

Over the years Takram has been making several donations in the region to several communities. He has been getting tremendous support from Essequbians, leading to the expansion of his business.
