Motorcyclist dies in crash at Berbice Bridge entrance

A crash involving a car and motorcycle last evening at the Berbice Bridge entrance left the motorcyclist dead.

The dead man has since been identified as 43-year-old Aubrey Sears of Number 9 Village, West Coast Berbice. 

Based on information received from the police, the motorcar, PPP 2020, was exiting the bridge entrance while Sears was entering. It is alleged that Sears suddenly looked back while riding his motorcycle causing him to slam into the motor car.  He was picked up and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He reportedly sustained head injuries. 

Stabroek News was told that the driver of the motorcar was taken into custody for questioning as an investigation has been a launched.

Meanwhile, yesterday morning just around 9, a police vehicle, PAC 5231, heading up to the Corentyne area slammed into a parked car in Palmyra Village, Corentyne, a short distance away from the Berbice Bridge entrance.

According to information gathered, the police van reportedly had a tire blowout. The parked car was pitched into a nearby drain.

The owner of the car was reportedly visiting relatives at the location at the time of the accident.
