Senior Minister in  the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh participated on Sunday in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new Dredge Creek Landing in Region Two.

A release from the Ministry of Finance said that the landing had been a request made by the Head-mistress, Parent-Teacher’s Associa-tion and villagers of Dredge Creek during President Irfaan Ali’s visit in May.

The release said that the new landing will benefit students, teachers and villagers who previously had to embark and disembark close to the side of a koker from their boats.

The upgraded system will provide a stable electricity supply to the school for its daily activities, benefiting approximately 69 students and 10 staff.

Singh also handed over a Back Blade tractor to the Mainstay/ Whyaka Village Council.

The machine is expected to be used to maintain the trail from Red Lock Bridge to Mainstay Village/ Lake.
