Showtime crowned Berbice champion in street football

Showtime was crowned the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Berbice Champion, defeating Hopetown on Saturday evening at the Fort Wellington basketball court tarmac, West Coast Berbice.

The East Berbice unit prevailed via a 3-0 score-line to walk away with the $250,000 and the winner’s trophy. The team also earned an automatic berth to the Guinness National Championship.

On the other hand, Hopetown received $200,000 and the corresponding accolade. Meanwhile, former champion East Bank Gunners defeated Rising Stars 3-2 in the third place playoff. With the outcome, East Bank Gunners pocketed $100,000 and a trophy, while Rising Stars walked away with $80,000, and a trophy.

In the earlier semi-final matches, Showtime defeated East Bank Gunners 3-0 whilst Hopetown squeaked past Rising Stars 1-0.
