Albion, Cotton Tree, Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy in BCB semis

Three teams, Albion, defending champion Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy, and Cotton Tree, have secured semi-final berths in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Romario Shepherd U13 Tournament.

Albion crushed Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy by eight wickets at the Area ‘H’ facility. Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy amassed 56-6 from their allotted 25 overs. Tameshwar Deonand and Baltaj Narine scored 11 and 10 runs apiece. Bowler, Arif Marimutoo, snared 2-9.

Albion in response, tallied 56-2 in 15 overs. Said Jumratty and Sahid Gajnabi recorded unbeaten scores of 17 and 10 runs respectively.

Similarly, Albion mauled Port Mourant by 64 runs at the Albion ground. Batting first, Albion stormed to 112-3 in their assigned 25 overs. Nathaniel Ramsammy smashed an unbeaten 38 runs (5 x 4s), while Marimutoo added an unbeaten 29 runs. Jumratty and Farhan Balle added 14 and 10 runs respectively.

S. Samaroo was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-12 from 5 overs. In reply, Port Mourant was dismissed for 48 runs in 18.5 overs. A. Apanah top scored with 10 runs. Farhan Balle recorded figures of 3-4 from four overs, while Jumratty tallied 2-11.

Meanwhile, Cotton Tree downed Achievers by 11 runs at the Cotton Tree ground. Batting first, Cotton Tree registered 56-5 off 25 overs, with Arif Bacchus and Ricardo Dhanisar scoring 28 and 12 runs respectively. Kumar Joseph recorded figures of 3-6 from three overs.

In reply, Achievers fell short after being bowled out for 45 in 12.3 overs. Amarie Hughes top scored with an unbeaten 14 runs. On the bowling end, Bacchus recorded 3-5, while Fayad Gaffur amassed 2-5.

Similarly, Cotton Tree brushed aside Rainbow Generation by 22 runs at Cotton Tree. Batting first, the hosts recorded 48-7, with Bacchus, and Fayad Gaffur scoring 15 and 10 runs respectively. J. Blackman snared 2-10 for the bowling side.

In reply, Rainbow Generation was bundled out for 26 runs in nine overs. Arif Khan tallied 4-3, while Bacchus recorded 3-4.

Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy defeated Port Mourant by nine wickets at the Albion Cricket ground. Batting first, Port Mourant were bundled out for 34 in 11 overs. Raphael McKenzie recorded figures of 4-10, while Leon Reddy was equally effective with his haul of 4-12. In reply, Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy romped to 35-1 in eight overs. Reddy top scored with 12 runs, while Balraj Narine added 10 runs.

Also, Rose Hall Canje dismissed Mt Sinai by nine wickets. Mt Sinai were bowled out for 37 in 12.5 overs. Luke Amsterdam recorded figures of 8-6 from his allotted five overs. Brandon Grimmond assisted with 2-8. In response, Rose Hall Canje raced to 41-1 in 10 overs. Richard Ramdeholl top scored with an unbeaten 13 runs, while Amsterdam added 10 runs.

Rose Hall Town/Poonai Pharmacy will now face-off against hosts, Cotton Tree, while Albion will battle the winner of the Rose Hall Canje/Edinburgh match in the second semi-final.

Meanwhile, the quarterfinal round of the U17 tournament will commence today across four venues. At the Albion ground, the hosts will oppose East Bank Blazers, while home side Cotton Tree engages Radha Krishna.

Tucber Park will face-off against hosts Port Mourant, whilst Rose Hall Canje battles Bath at the Canje ground. All matches are slated for a 9:30am commencement.
