The Berbice Cricket Board organised two-day first-division Banks Beer competition will make its return to the ancient county with four matches this weekend where a host of national players are set to participate.

The second round of the tournament will see Rose Hall Town Namilco Thunderbolts visiting Port Mourant.

Thunderbolts will want to secure a victory under recently appointed captain, Eon Hooper, after earning just first innings points over Rose Hall Canje in the first round.

Thunderbolts will be boosted by the return of all-rounder Kevin Sinclair who was part of the victorious West Indies Emerging Players in the Regional Super50 competition as well as national all-rounder, Clinton Pestano.

Meanwhile, Port Mourant will be searching for a win after suffering an innings and 148-run defeat at the hands of Albion.

Albion, on the other hand, will look  to continue their dominance when they go up against Rose Hall Canje. Albion are no doubt a confident group with the likes of left-arm spinners, Gudakesh Motie and Veerasammy Permaul aiding West Indies leggie, Devindra Bishoo. Additionally, they will have the services of Jonathan Foo and Anthony Bramble who have  returned from representing the national side in the just completed Super50 competition.

Tucber Park will have the services of seamer, Nial Smith in their ranks when they travel to West Berbice to face off against Blairmont Blazers at home.

The final showdown of the round will see Bush Lot coming over to Cumberland to play Young Warriors.

The national players will want to find form ahead of next year’s regional first class season where the Guyana Jaguars will be looking to defend their Cricket West Indies Professional Cricket League Regional Four-Day title which they have won consecutively for the last five seasons. The tournament is set to begin in January.

Also, on Saturday Albion’s under-13 unit will square off against Rose Hall Town Poonai Pharmacy at Area ‘H’ from 10.00 hours in the trophy Stall under-13 two-inning final.
