Sparta Boss won the ‘Keep Ya Five Alive’ Futsal Championship, crushing newcomer Slingerz  9-5 on Saturday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

The contest started brightly for the West Demerara-based outfit as Delon Lanferman and Quincy Adams scored in the seventh and ninth minute respectively.

Lanferman slammed his effort from the right side of the box into the left corner, while Adams uncorked a powerful left-footed volley from the top of the box into the roof of the left corner.

However, a four goal blitz from the Spartans secured a commanding 4-2 advantage.  Jermin Junior slotted down the centre in the 11th minute before Gregory Richardson equalised in the 16th minute, tapping home unchallenged after receiving a right sided pass.

Junior then rifled into the top right corner in the 17th minute to complete his brace, with Richardson registering his double in the 19th minute via a shot from the right side which went through the legs of the goalkeeper and settled into the back of the net.

Deon Alfred eventually reduced the deficit at 4-3 in the 20th minute, volleying into the roof left corner after latching onto a lobbed pass. Yet, that was the closest Slingerz would get to overturning the deficit, as they incurred a further five concessions.

Ryan Hackett, the eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP), tallied a hat-trick during this period. Hackett netted in the 22nd, 25th and 47th minute, while Jeremy Garrett, and Nicholas MacArthur scored in the 26th and 49th minute apiece.

For Slingerz, Samuel Garrett, and Adams scored in the 31st and 48th minute respectively. Due to the outcome, Sparta Boss pocketed $800,000, and the championship trophy, while the loser received $400,000 and the runner-up accolade.

Meanwhile, Swag Entertainment dismissed Stabroek Ballers 4-1 in the third place playoff. Kouse Gentle tallied a double in the sixth and 15th minute, while Omar Brewley, and Deon Charter scored in the 16th, and 19th minute respectively. For the loser, Seon Taylor netted in the 17th minute.

With the outcome, Swag Entertainment walked away with $200,000 and the corresponding accolade, while the outcome received $100,000, and an accolade.
