Wismar man accused of breaking and entering

A 35-year-old labourer of Wismar, Linden was remanded to prison on Friday after being accused of breaking into a Soesdyke Public Road, East Bank Demerara house last weekend.

Harvey Mattis was charged with break and enter and larceny, which was allegedly committed on the dwelling house of Sumintra Paul at Soesdyke Public Road, between 18:30 hrs last Sunday and 03:00hrs last Monday. 

The Guyana Police Force said in a statement that Mattis pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Principal Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Friday.

Bail was refused and he was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned until October 31, 2022, for statements.
