Wismar man shot after misunderstanding

A Wismar, Linden businessman is now hospitalised after being shot several times about his body after a misunderstanding with another man last Friday.

According to the Guy-ana Police Force, Nigel Somersoll, 53, of Wismar Housing Scheme, is in stable condition at the Linden Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.

The shooter remained on the run up to yesterday.

The police said Somersoll had a misunderstanding with the gunman hours before.

The shooting occurred around 21:00 hours.

Two hours earlier, the police said, the two men, who are known to each other, had a misunderstanding. The other man left after the argument ensued and the businessman remained at his shop. About two hours after, Somersoll heard several loud explosions, suspected to be gunshots, and upon investigating, he saw the suspect on the street a short distance away armed with a gun, pointing in his direction. Somersoll related that he then felt something hit him and he began feeling a burning sensation about his body.

The man was shot once to the abdomen and three times to his right hand. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital.

Two warheads and two suspected 9MM spent shells were recovered at the scene by police detectives. Police said they are in pursuit of the suspect.
