Brothers injured in Corriverton chopping incident

Two brothers who were imbibing along the Corriverton Public Road during the wee hours of Sunday are now nursing chop injuries after they were attacked by a man known to them following an argument.

According to information gathered, Marlon Kendall, 23, a carpenter and his brother Jason Kendall, 19, a labourer both of Lot 23 Grant Crabwood Creek, were attacked in front of the Tejmohal Bar & Hotel located at Number 79 Village just around 1. 30 am on Sunday.

According to information gathered, the two men were on the Corriverton Public Road imbibing when the suspect approached them while they were having a conversation.

Stabroek News was told that they subsequently had a misunderstanding which led to the suspect, who is known to them, running to a location after which he returned with a cutlass and attacked Marlon.

Marlon’s brother then tried to rescue him but he was also chopped about his body by the suspect, who then escaped on foot.

The two men were rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital by public-spirited persons. Marlon was treated and discharged while Jason was transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for further treatment.

His condition as of yesterday afternoon was listed as stable.

Lawmen in Berbice have launched an investigation and are on the hunt for the suspect.
