Prime Minister Mark Phillips says that diplomatic relations between Guyana and China are marked by friendship and cooperation.

He made the statement at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy at the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown on Monday evening to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said.

In congratulating China’s President Xi Jinping, the government and the people of China on the  occasion,  Phillips reaffirmed Guyana’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in several areas, including climate change and increasing economic de-carbonisation through China’s Dual Carbon Goal and Guyana’s Low-Carbon Development Strategy 2030.

“Guyana’s relations with China are being realigned to conform to our evolving development thrust. Guyana’s economic growth provides impetus for us to further diversify our economy, build transformative infrastructure and deliver world-class social services to our citizens. Guyana looks forward to partnering with the People’s Republic of China in realising these objectives”, he said.
