Corentyne mother remanded on charge of attempted murder of child

A Corentyne mother was yesterday remanded to prison for attempted murder after she allegedly fed poison to her four-year-old daughter last weekend.

Niladev Shamshundar also known as “Tasha”, 23, of Lot 1, Number 50 Village, Corentyne yesterday appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court where she was charged.

It is alleged that Shamshundar on October 2 at Number 50 Village attempted to murder the child.

Shamshundar was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to prison. She will return to court on December 9, for report.
