Allicock joins Amsterdam in medal round

Standout featherweight, Keevin Allicock has progressed to the semi-final round and is assured of a medal at the ongoing South American Games currently underway in Paraguay. 

The pugilist unanimously (5-0) defeated Peruvian opponent, Darwin Perez in their 57kg quarterfinal bout yesterday to clinch a berth in the final four. 

Allicock, who earned a bronze medal at the quadrennial event four years ago in Bolivia, will aim to climb further up the podium steps in Paraguay.

He is scheduled to face Ecuador’s Jean Pachito in their semi-final bout today. He will undoubtedly have a finals berth on his mind. 

Allicock, joins his countryman, middleweight maestro, Desmond Amsterdam, in the semifinals. 

Amsterdam is down to battle Argentina Benjamin Grimaux in semi-final 1 of the 80kg class today. 

Meanwhile, Guyana’s other pugilist at the Games, Colin Lewis lost his quarterfinal bout yesterday 2-3 against Peru’s Leodan Savoy.
