Malteenoes cricket club defeated 4R Lions by three wickets while Sophia brushed aside Ace Warriors by four wickets as the Georgetown Cricket Association/Atlantic Marine Supplies Incorporated Suzuki Motorcycles second-division T20 tournament continued yesterday.

At Malteenoes, Lions won the toss and opted to bat where they posted 140 for nine before the hosts reached 141 for seven with two balls to spare.

Marcus Watkins (2-15) removed Kevin Kisten and Rampertab Ramnauth in the fourth over to leave Lions 15-2. With extras accounting for the most runs towards the target with 29, Salim Khan and Ronaldo Scouten both struck 21 runs. Tomani Caesar (19), Romeo Deonarain (15) and Richard Dowlatram (14) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

Mark Cumberbatch and Delon Dalrymple both picked up two wickets for 18 and 20 runs respectively.

In the chase, Malteenoes were in a tough spot at 45-7 but skipper, Nkosie Barker hammered six sixes and three fours on his way to 70 not out from 38 balls.

He shared an unbroken eight-wicket partnership of 96 with Sheldon Agar who made 23 not out from 29 balls. Dowlatram was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-15 while Ramnauth took 2-17.

Meanwhile at Queen’s College, Warriors posted 164 for eight after winning the toss and electing to take first strike. Sophia then muscled their way to 165 for six in 16.1 overs.

Ranold Hercules piloted Sophia’s chase with an unbeaten 52 from 34 balls and was supported by Dwayne Peters who made 43 from 24 balls. He struck three sixes and four fours.

Warriors also gifted 26 extras and Malcolm Morris chipped in with 17. Roger Aarons picked up 2-21 for Warriors.

Earlier, Nkosi Whyte ensured Warriors a solid total with 51 from 28 balls. His innings was laced with three sixes and five fours. Contributions came from Andre Meredith, who hit a 16-ball 37, Rawle Enmore (19) and Andre Barker (15).

Steve Mangal took 2-23 while Steven Rose, Eon Daniels, Kishawn Da Silva, Ray Skeete and Peters took one wicket each.
