Pattensen single mother loses home in fire

A single mother of Pattensen, Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara, is now counting her losses after a fire of unknown origin ravaged her home on Tuesday afternoon.

In an interview with Stabroek News, Akellia Daly, a mother of three, said that at the time of the fire she was at work while her children were at their grandmother’s. Daly stated that she received a call from her son’s teacher at about 16:15 hours, “I was at work and my son teacher call me, she live across the road and she end up call me and tell me she see the big fire. When I come just like how it flat here that’s how I meet it. Nothing was saved.”

She said that her children were unable to attend school on Wednesday since their school supplies and uniforms were all destroyed.

Daly and her three children are presently staying with her mother who lives nearby and she is appealing to the public for any assistance to help her get back on her feet. She can be contacted at telephone number 618-8622.
