Rupununi farmer Darrel Williams called ‘Fox’ who had been charged with the 2019 Christmas Day stabbing death of a Brazilian farmer, is now awaiting sentencing after admitting that it was he who had killed the man.

At his arraignment before Justice Brassington Reynolds at the High Court in Demerara on Friday last, Williams who was originally indicted for murder, denied that charge, but admitted guilt on the lesser charge of manslaughter.

When the charge was read to him he accepted that on December 25th, 2019 it was he who unlawfully killed Elvis Aulicio at Moco Moco village, Central Rupununi.

His sentencing has been deferred to October 28th to facilitate the presentation of a probation and social impact reports.

The police’s case has been that Williams and Aulicio, 44, a farmer of Bon Fim, Brazil were known to each other, and were both at a birthday party on the day in question.

According to reports, Williams accused Aulicio of stealing his haversack which had ‘labba’ in it.

Incensed, Williams later followed Aulicio into the Moco Moco savannah where he dealt him a stab to his neck.

Reports indicated that the body of the man was found on a track in the open savannah at about 2 am on December 26th with wounds to his back and forehead.

Williams is being represented by Damien DaSilva, while the prosecution is being represented by state attorneys led by Latifah Elliot.
