Crushing wins for Gold is Money, Back Circle and Future Stars

Gold is Money, Back Circle, and Future Stars recorded crushing wins in the men’s division, while Fruta Conquerors and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) clinched victories in the women’s section when the MVP Sports Futsal championships continued  Saturday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Future Stars downed Tiger Bay 4-3. Jamal Cozier netted a brace in the third and sixth minute while Keron Solomon registered a double in the 17th and 20th minute. For the losers, Orin Moore and Akil Plass scored in the fourth and ninth minute while an own goal in the 16th minute added to the score.

Gold is Money crushed Mocha 5-1. Dextroy Adams bagged a double in the fourth and 15th minute while Jamal Pedro, Darren Benjamin and Michael Ballack netted in the third, seventh and 12th minute respectively. On target in the loss was Dorville Stewart in the 10th minute.

Back Circle crushed Campbellville 4-1. Simeon Moore recorded a hat-trick in the fourth, 11th and 12th minute, whilst Stephan McLean netted in the 16th minute. For the loser, Marlon Gentle scored in the ninth minute.

In the women’s division, Fruta Conquerors squeaked past Tiger Bay 2-1. Sandra Johnson recorded a double in the 10th and 13th minute. For Tiger Bay, Shania Easton scored in the fifth minute.

Also, GPF arrested GT Panthers 2-1. Tiandi Smith and Alleia Alleyne scored in the fifth and 20th minute. On target for GT Panthers was Glendy Lewis in the sixth minute.

Upon the conclusion of the round-robin stage, the top two finishers and the two best third place teams will progress to the quarterfinal section. Also, the respective group winners will receive $50,000, whilst the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will collect $30,000, $20,000, and $10,000 respectively.

The overall winner of the men’s tournament will collect $500,000, whilst the second, third and fourth-place finishers will receive $300,000, $200,000, and $100,000 respectively, and the corresponding accolade.

The resulting winner of the women’s section will pocket $200,000, while the second, third, and fourth-place finisher will receive $100,000, $50,000, and $20,000 respectively. The other sponsors of the event include Magnum Tonic Wine, and Lucozade Energy Drink.
