The police are still on the hunt for the man who fatally stabbed  Joshua Dianid, a 28-year-old truck driver of Kwakwani Staff Hill, Upper Berbice River on Sunday morning at Bushpool Kwakwani.

Thirty-six-year-old Dwayne Williams, also a truck driver, is the suspect.

The police said in a statement that  enquiries disclosed that on Sunday at about 1:45 am, Williams’ wife, 36-year-old Avita Williams, a labourer of Kwakwani Airstrip, was in the company of Dianid at a football tournament consuming alcohol  when they were approached by Dwayne Williams and a heated argument ensued between the latter and his wife. As a consequence, Dwayne Williams broke a bottle and stabbed his wife in both of her hands. On seeing this, the police said that  Dianid intervened and that Dwayne Williams stabbed him in the left side of his abdomen and then escaped.

Dianid and Avita Williams were taken to the Kwakwani Hospital Complex by onlookers. They were seen by Dr. Thomas and Avita was treated and sent away while Dianid was admitted and succumbed to his injury about one hour after.
