Expensive plane ride to the UK

Dear Editor,

That visit to the UK which unfortunately did not take place, and turned out to be nothing more than an expensive airplane ride, has lessons for all of us. Chief among the lessons is that the immigration authorities has the final say who enters the country, visa requirement or no visa requirement. It is felt purchasing a six months ticket on a first visit was not sensible in action and thought. The exuberance was palpable. Added the quantum of cash the ‘visitor’ had on him, did not convince the authorities the sum could have sustained the intended period of stay.  This is a very important consideration, despite having a relative living there and apparently established. A much anticipated visit ended in great disappointment. Hope-fully this story will have a much happier ending and brother and sister can be reunited sometime in the near future.

Sincerely,

Shamshun Mohamed
