Courts Pee Wee U11 Football Championship concludes tomorrow

With the Courts Pee Wee U11 Football Championship scheduled to conclude tomorrow, a pre-match press conference was staged yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground with the competing captains of St Pius and Enterprise Primary, both of whom expressed confidence in securing the title.

The two teams will face off tomorrow at the same venue from 15:00hrs for the coveted title. This will be St Pius’ fourth appearance in a final, as they possess a record of two wins and a loss. On the other hand, this is Enterprise’s second appearance in the championship match, as they are yet to be crowned winner.

St Pius manager, Melissa Rodrigues, stated that the tournament has been a great experience for an emerging coach, adding that the objective of the players “is to come out and play and have fun. That is what I tell my boys.”

Omar Moses, captain of St. Pius, noted that while he is confident of winning, he wishes the best of luck to his opponent.

On the other hand, head coach of Enterprise, Troy Wright, stated that his team’s initial aim was to secure a place in the final four section, adding that the team is now in the championship encounter, and will aim to secure the championship which will be the first in the team’s tournament history.

Similarly, Fabio Kowlessar, captain of Enterprise, declared that the team is focused on winning the school’s first title, following years of struggling to return to the championship final.  Meanwhile, North Georgetown will face off against North Georgetown in the third-place playoff. Similarly, the positional 5-16 section will also be staged. The winner of the tournament will receive the championship trophy, gold medals, and a pair of uniforms. Each player will also be presented with an electronic tablet. The runners-up will collect a trophy, silver medals, and six balls, while the third-place finisher will pocket a trophy and four balls and the fourth-place side will walk away with a trophy. On the individual side, a trophy and a pair of football cleats will be presented to the eventual Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper respectively.
