Police defeat Ace Warriors by 103 runs

Police Sports Club handed Ace Warriors a 103-run defeat on Saturday in the Georgetown Cricket Association/Atlantic Marine Supplies Inc., Suzuki motorcycles second division T20 tournament.

Playing at home, Police won the toss and opted to bat first where they reached 154 for three in 17.5 overs as the match was reduced due to rain. Set a target of 173, Warriors reached 70 all out in 15.2 overs.

Lennox Andrews top scored for Police with 66 not out from 33 balls. He struck six sixes and three fours.

 He was supported by Troy Benn who made 29 from 38 balls while adding 56 for the opening partnership with Kevin Christian who made 27 from 20 balls before being trapped leg before wicket to Dequan Wray.

Ace Warriors were always behind the asking rate as wickets tumbled consistently. Deryck Babb top scored with 15 from 20 balls before popping a soft catch back to Dwain Dick while Rawle Enmore and Andre Barker were the only other batsmen to reach double figures with 13 each.Vishaul Jaigobin ended with 3-2 while Keston Harcourt and Christian bagged two wickets each for 17 and 19 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) also defeated 4R Lions by 30 runs over at GCC.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first where they posted 95 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. 4R were bowled out for 65 in 16.5 overs.

After GCC were reduced to 2-2, seven balls into the match, Bernard Bailey top scored for GCC with 29 from 46 balls, hitting two fours and a six along the way. Khemraj Jaikaran supported with 23 not out. During his 13-ball innings he struck three boundaries. GCC were propped up by 14 extras as Richard Dowlatram took 2-8.

Nizam Khan top scored with 15 but apart from Alex Algoo (12) and Romeo Deonarain (11), no other batsman could pass seven.

Devon Lord picked up 3-6 while Bailey bagged 3-7. Troy Henry and Laurel Parks returned two wickets each.
