The Georgetown Cricket Association/ Atlantic Marine Inc Suzuki Motor Cycles second-division T20 tournament continued yesterday with Guyana Defence Force, 4R Lions, Bel Air Rubis and Guyana National Industrial Cooperation (GNIC) recording wins.

GDF defeated Ace Warriors by two wickets after reaching 134 for eight in 19.1 overs, responding to Ace Warriors’ 133 for seven from their full quota.

Murtland Ward played the lone hand for Warriors with a 42-ball 59, laced with eight fours and a six while cameos came from Nkosi Whyte (19), Robert Davis (11) and Rawle Enmore (10).

GDF captain, Randy Lindore, picked up 2-22 with his off-spin while Randy Wade, Damion Waldron and Hackeem David bagged one wicket each.

Wade returned to topscore with 33 while Lindore struck 31 as the pair added 62 for the third wicket. Ace Warriors did not help their cause after gifting 18 extras. Devindra Lall and Dequan Murray picked up two wickets each.

4R Lions then defeated 3rd Class by 92 runs after posting 201 for four and restricting 3rd Class to 109 all out in 13.3 overs.

Kevin Kisten led the batting for Lions with a roaring 111 from 59 balls. His innings featured 10 sixes and eight fours and he added 150 for the opening partnership with Romeo Deonarain who made a ball-a-run 37. Tomani Ceasar chipped in with 28 from 12 balls.

Salim Khan then stifled the run chase with 4-23 while Natron Gill took 3-40. Deonarain supported with 2-17. Lenny Pancham top scored with 30 while Ameer Khan and Anand Persaud made 25 and 23 respectively but regular wickets kept them out of the contest. Meanwhile, Bel Air Rubis recorded a commanding 129-run win over Positive Foundation Agricola after piling on 207 for nine and skittling Agricola for 78 in 15.4 overs.

Rajendra Singh top scored for Bel Air with 88 from 48 balls after hitting five sixes and eight fours. He added 131 for the opening wicket with Andy Lall who made 68 from 43 balls.  Joel Gilkes took 3-39 and Joshua Jones bagged 2-45 for Agricola. Apart from Idris Allen (18), Neil Hutton (15) and Gilkes (14), Agricola batsmen were unable to score at will as Arvinda Gainda took 3-7. Mahindra Jeenarine and Terrence King took two wickets each as well.

In the final match of the day, GNIC secured an 11-run win over Diplomats after posting 158 for nine in 18.2 overs and keeping Diplomats to 147 for nine by the time their overs expired.

Dexter Solomon hammered 63 from 39 balls while Jeffrey Blair raced to 27 from eight balls to see GNIC post a respectable total despite Shemroy Griffith’s 4-39.

Ezekiel Mondesir kept Diplomats in the match with 71 from 53 balls but extras accounted for the next best score with 19.

Marcel Mentore took 4-21 and Christian Husbands returned 3-20.
