Sixty-year-old Harrylall Boodram who was stuck down and seriously injured in a motorcar accident one week ago on the Ogle Public Road, East Coast Demerara, remains hospitalized.

Boodram, of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, suffered injuries about his body including his head, shoulders, rib, knees and hands. In a telephone interview with Stabroek News on Thursday, Boodram’s daughter, Romattie, said “my father is still hospitalized and we want to know what is going on with the driver, we don’t know if he would be charged…”

Boodram was standing on the parapet when the speeding motorcar struck him down last Monday. The driver was identified as Shiva Mangra, 38-years-old of Industry Crown Dam, ECD. Mangra was proceeding on the southern carriageway of the public road at a fast rate, when he then lost control of the vehicle hitting Boodram.

As a result, Boodram was flung several feet away sustaining injuries to his head and body. He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital. The motorcar then hit a nearby building before it turned turtle. Mangra was subjected to a breathalyzer test which read .118 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) and 117 BAC, respectively.
