Since assuming office in August 2020, the PPP/C regime has continuously diverted hard earned taxpayers’ monies to support the failing sugar industry. This is despite advice from renowned economists and financial analysts, who proffered advice on diversification and other ideas on making GuySuCo self-sustainable.
The Parliamentary Opposition has on many occasions, since 2020, requested information from the PPP/C government on the performance and operations of GuySuCo. At all times, they have failed to provide accurate information and, in some cases, none. We believe that more than $20B has already been expended. It is time Mr. Ali and his Minister responsible for Finance let the nation know the cost of this huge financial burden to taxpayers’, for the period August 2020 – November 2022,
