The Championship Phase of the One Guyana President Cup football tournament was officially launched yesterday at State House, with the unveiling of the official uniforms of the competing 10 regions.

All 10 regions will be outfitted for the tournament which commences on Sunday at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, West Coast Demerara.

Representatives of the respective teams displaying the uniforms that will be utilised during the inaugural One Guyana President Cup

President Irfaan Ali during his brief remarks stated that the tournament commences the process in qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the CONCACAF region.

“It’s not only about football, but a mission and an aspiration of us getting into the next world cup.”

According to the President, the event will form part of the programme and legacy in the Guyana Football Federation’s attempts attempt to qualify for the global phenomenon.
