Biker charged with causing pedestrian’s death by dangerous driving

A Region Two man was on Wednesday slapped with a charge of causing a pedestrian’s death by dangerous driving.

Shawn John, 25, of Lot 42 Lima Sands, was arraigned before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail after denying the charge.

It is alleged that on August 16, 2022, he drove in a dangerous manner, killing 56-year-old Teekah (only name given) of Red Lock, Region Two.

Teekah was walking on the Red lock public road when he was struck down by John, who was riding a motorcycle. At the time John was unlicensed and did not have insurance. The autopsy revealed that Teekah died from multiple injuries.

John was granted his release on $200,000 bail with conditions that he report every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 09:00 hours to the Anna Regina Police station. The case will be called again on January 3, 2022.

This newspaper understands that he was also sentenced for the breach of insurance and riding without a unlicence charges. He served his time and is currently out of prison.
